David Carson, with the support (and patience) of his wife, Rosemary, founded Gemstar Construction in 1983. David felt that his strong background in property insurance coupled with knowledge and experience in the construction industry would provide the right combination for success in the specialized field of restoration and reconstruction. He was right, and before long, David's natural sales ability outpaced the production capabilities of the fledgling company. David and Rosemary began to search for the right partner to head up the company's operations division as David continued to build a strong client base. David approached a former co-worker whom he respected for his strong work ethic, ability to lead and organize, and his vast knowledge of restoration construction. Winston Payne liked the idea so much that he joined the company as a co-owner in 1987. He brought with him many years of construction experience and the ability to lead and organize construction crews for maximum efficiency. Since that time the company has grown steadily and now employs over 75 people from carpenters and helpers to professional estimators and clerical staff. Throughout all the years and all the changes, Gemstar has maintained a reputation for fairness and quality unsurpassed in the reconstruction industry. In fact, many of our first clients are still our clients today. |
